While we are not "officially" related to the Historic concerts that went on in Texas back in the 1900s, we do think that recounting the past is worth the effort in this case.  If you went to or participated in the Texxas Jam of the 70s and 80s in and around Texxas, let us know.  We would love to put some time in on this and possbily generate a some content to help re-live the memories...!

I went to the 85, 86, 87 and 88 monsters of rock show which was the last one held. In 85 i was 16 and my friends and i got so wasted that we accidently walked out of a gate to go sit on a bench and couldn't get back in. We missed the Scorpions and Deep Purple and when we finally found our cars we were completely blocked in so we had to pick up and move several cars to get out! Left them in the street on one of the main roads. Had to listen to the live broadcast on q102 all the way home back to Tyler Tx from Dallas talk about heartbreaking!!! We got our shit together after that and never missed a moment for the next three years!!

I went to the 1978 Texas Jam with my then wife. The line up I remember isn't the one in wiki, so maybe I'm confused. Saw so many concerts back then. Certainly the jam i went to included Billy Thorpe ( his backing tape looped lol ), Black Oak Arkansas, Van Halen, Sammy Hager and the Red Rockers, Heart, Little River Band, Boston... Maybe I went to 2 jams, but the line up still doesn't jive. Anyway, we left early. I was wearing a cast for a broken arm, it melted when they hit us with the water hoses. Too tired to party on, I missed the end.

1986 Texas Jam in the Astrodome! Rush, .38 Special, Ozzy & Van Halen. I think it was '86... Ozzy was so wasted he was taken off stage in a wheel chair!

Ok, so really....WOW! Actually, I'm looking for "87 Jam memorabilia for a special Christmas gift for my Hubby. He and I were best friends "back in the day" and the Texxas Jam '87 was our last "hoorah" the day before he left for Boot Camp. We went about our own lives after that. For 26 years lost contact with each other but we reunited several years ago and have been married now almost 3 years. It's hard to buy for someone who's your opposite sex equal. We have the same brain only in different sexed bodies (which is really cool and all) but makes it hard to buy gifts for each other. BTW, Tony......You're totally on to something with Brad Dunn and Ellis county, dude! I went to school w/ Brad. He's kinda like a brother and one helluva GREAT Entertainer (he and his whole crew)! Ellis County was where it was AT "back in the day"!
